Fabianのイラスト入り。カバー絵は、作家としても著名なHannes Bok。解説　ホジスンの、それまで知られていなかった短編を集めた短編集。だが、この本の真価は、冒頭のホジスン研究家サム・モスコヴィッツによる初の本格的なホジスンの評伝にある。これは、1973年に三回に渡ってWeird Talesに連載されたものをまとめたもの。長く、日本でのホジスンの紹介文は、多くがこの評伝に因っていた。近年では間違いが多い、出典が明らかでないなどの指摘がされるようになったものの、基本図書のひとつであることは間違いない。
